Healthy snacks is what I usually give to my kiddos. Here are some that I give them:

pretzels
raw veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber) with NO dressing since the dressing is what has more calories, just add lemon and a lil salt
quesadillas
yogurt
any type of fruit (bananas, pears, apples, pineapple, watermelon, honeydews)
raisins
any type of nuts (almonds, pecans, peanuts, sunflower seeds)
instead of soda, drink juices (apple, orange, grape)
granola bars
string cheese
unsalted crackers
oh, and don't forget your water.

Trail Mix is great as an in between meals snack. Yogurt with fresh fruit is great too...I personally like Greek yogurt. I eat baby carrots a lot too.

Drink lots of water!! It's easy to do so if you buy a Nalgene bottle and fill it up. You'd be surprised how easy it is to drink a lot of water.

Dried fruits with no preservatives ; dried apples, figs, apricots, prunes, raisins etc

Raw fruits or veggies

Jicama con limon

Tuna(from the cactus)

Sunflower seeds,pumpkin seeds,chia seeds

nuts

toastadas( you can make your own from regular tortillas, instead of getting the ones with oil etc) with honey or some sea salt

Dried stevia usually quenches my hunger after eating about a pinch to 2 pinches with some water.

Try Hummus. I love that stuff.

I eat pretty clean these days and Hummus is a new stable in my diet. I cut cucumbers into chips and I dip them in the Hummus.

who cares. he said healthy so i put something else other than snacks kali might like. beef jerky healthy huh? u sure about that? you might want to check this http://caloriecount.about.com/calori...f-jerky-i19002 too much fat and sodium in jerky.

heres a good healthy cucumber salad thai style.

3 large cucumbers, peeled, halved lengthwise, seeded, and cut into 1/4-inch slices
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped or red pepper flakes
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1/2 cup chopped peanuts

Toss the cucumbers with the salt in a colander, and leave in the sink to drain for
30 minutes. Rinse with cold water, then drain and pat dry with paper towels.

Whisk together the sugar and vinegar in a mixing bowl until the sugar has dissolved.
Add the cucumbers, jalapeno peppers, and cilantro; toss to combine. Put it in the fridge
for an hour or so to get cold and to marinate Sprinkle chopped peanuts on top before serving.

Geez what kind of jerky is that? A lot of sugar for it being "jerky". Maybe it is the el'cheapo dollar store brand? When I think of jerky I think of naturally dried meat made by butchers or hunters. It may have more sodium than desired but a whole of a fuck lot better than chips.

You link sucks ass. I dont think i have ever seen a package of jerky that is that low in protein.
http://www.livestrong.com/thedailypl...ks/beef-jerky/

ANd it is probably even healthier if ya buy homemade/organic.

As far as sodium, who cares? As far as fat, livable as opposed to other snacks, not to mention the protein far outweighs the fat. Especially since protein burns fat.

I will be sure to try that salad as a carry around snack. I am sure i can eat that and drive to my next crime scene at the same time.

I think brown sugar is one of the ingredients often used in making beef jerky.

Dietary fat is actually an essential nutrient. It's not the scary, dangerous health hazard people are lead to believe. Just limit saturated fats and avoid trans fats altogether.
The fats people should emphasize are the ones found in nuts, olive oil, avocados and fatty fish.

It's almost heating up, so here are a couple of really good cold snacks, fun and easy for all ages

1 box of jello any flavor
1 can of fruit mix (whatever you like)
1 - 2 cups of low fat yogurt (whatever flavor)

mix fruit and yogurt, drain the juice from the fruit and add that cold instead of water to jello, make jello as directed on box...fold fruit and yogurt into jello

Chill in small serving dishes and enjoy

Also you can make jello mango icepops ummmm so good

slice mango and add 1-2 tsp of fresh lime or lemon juice and set aside
make a box of jello
mix jello and mangos, fill icetrays and add a pop stick before fully frozen! Yummm!

great thread. I've been trying to eat healthier too. Here are the different snacks I take to work and to eat throughout my day not all at once but 2-3 per day......I also package these in a snack size ziploc.....
-cucumber slice
-jicama
-black olives, pepperoni slices, cheese slices (this is a good combo )
-radishes
-celery
-strawberries
-orange peeled and pull slices apart
-grapes
-turkey lunchmeat roll it up or stick a slice of cheese in it
-apple slices
-broccoli, califlower, carrots,celery n ranch
-grilled pineapple
-gfresh fruit
-yogurt

I find if i cut my snacks into slices it feel like i'm eating more so i dont need as much

Greek Yogurt is awesome!!

Just to add a few..

Avocado slices.. weird, but VERY good for you has the good gut busting fat...

Pistachios in the Shell.. Again good fat and because they are such a bitch to eat you take your time in eating them don't eat as many and oddly enough burn a few calories shelling and eating..

Greek Yogurt!!

String Cheese.. Regular fat avoid the low or non varieties as some of the stuff they put in low-fat cheese and dairy products for flavoring is more harmful then the fat you are trying to avoid

Jerky is a great snack but avoided the flavored varieties as they are loaded with crap.. (sugars -sweeteners artificial flavors)

When was the last time you ate a slice of Avocado by itself? Not in a taco not on a burger not in guacamole but by itself?

That's what I thought.. it's not common thus weird, but yet still very good for you and they taste good with a little Lucas or by themselves and really good for you..

Yeah there are a lot of Greek Yogurts out now.. I have tried a few but really dig the Chobani Brand
