Suspect arrested in Mesa, Arizona, shooting spree that killed 1, injured 5

A gunman in a Phoenix, Arizona, suburb shot six people, killing one, Wednesday after getting into an argument with three men at a motel.

The suspect was captured in a vacant Mesa, Arizona, condo hours after the shootings, according to The Associated Press.

KPNX-TV said police sources identified the shooter as Ryan Giroux, 41.

According to police, the shooter got into an argument in a room at the Tri-City Inn then shot three people in the motel's parking lot. The suspect then went across the street to a restaurant and shot a person there. He carjacked a Honda Accord and wounded two more people at separate apartment complexes, including one during a home invasion.

The suspect then ran to an empty condo where police found him.

Mesa Vice Mayor Dennis Kavanaugh told CNN the arrest was "a positive outcome to a very challenging morning."
