Hi, I am 23 years old and have been gaining on pounds and this is getting to me. The thing is that after several efforts of exercise and dieting, I don’t seem to get any slimmer! There are many ways to lose weight, but I have exhausted all the ways I know. I have consulted a few people but all of them have been telling me the same thing. It isn’t helping me and only making my fears worse.
Is there some way to make me feel better!!! |

Well, ur gaining weight, but is it fat? You say ur exercising, does that include weights? If it is weights then you could be adding on muscle which is heavier then fat. And Diets kind of suck. Big healthy breakfast, medium lunch and a light dinner and u should be good.

this seem like a setup for a commercial or spam email...
best way to lose weight is thru exercising and dieting. Cut down on the fat intake, increase veggies, fiber, etc and do some cardio. lots of cardio.

hmm what diets have you been on?
like the weight watcher's commercial says diets do not work.. well actually the zone and atkins work really good the first two weeks.

^^ that's the mrart diet. He's currently writing a two page book on how to follow it.
![]() I think diets are ok to get on, but the main thing is taking some of the "ideas" and "food choices" from that diet and making lifestyle changes to your eating and exercise habits. You can lose a lot of weight on a diet and learn nothing and gain what you lost, plus more back. |

Weight loss is not a strategy it is a life style change. Its about understanding your body, what it needs, what it doesn't need and how over time those needs change. As you get older, your metabolism slows down. So obviously you will need to change some things in your lifestyle. If your serious about loosing weight and maintaining an appropriate size for your height you will have to change your lifestyle.
A few tips: Drink a lot of water. Green tea also is good. Avoid high in sugar drinks like kool-aid, sodas and alcohol. Start with realistic exercise goals - like 1 to 2 hours per week to start and progress from there. It also helps to have someone to work out with.. Have a routine, set days to go and then don't make excuses why not to go.. Eliminate fast food! This may take some planning since fast food is everywhere.. Keep a healthy snack on hand so that you aren't tempted to stop in.. Trail mix is good, but be careful what you put in it.. I suggest make your own and not buy products that may have a high sugar content.. Defeats the purpose.. Other good snacks fruits, veggies.. ect.. You can use low fat yogurt as a dip.. If your craving something sweet make your own fruit smoothies (blend until smooth ~ ice, fruit, skim milk or low fat yogurt, little bit of honey or agave as a sweetener.).. Those are filling and make a great snack, but don't add processed sugars.. If your craving chocolate try making a vanilla fruit smoothie with cacao nibs (low fat yogurt, crushed ice, honey or agave as a sweetener, cacao nibs, fresh fruit like strawberry or bananna). Cacao Nibs Before grocery shopping.. Eat a healthy snack. Never shop hungry! Also make a healthy menu or google for some ideas.. Then make your grocery list according to the menu. READ LABELS. The new fad is to put healthy advertisements on packages like "whole grain" on labels but if its not a primary ingredient its not really "whole grain". Last suggestion is don't go solely on "weight".. Weight fluctuates due to continual changes in our bodies and environment like water retention, stress, ect.. Go by BMI.. You can google that.. Once you do start loosing weight don't go back to old habits.. Its about lifestyle changes.. Hope that helps.

after the first two weeks your weight loss stops because the water weight is gone and it is slower...
since you are not seeing instant results you start to think "the hell with it" and then you start to eat every single carb imaginable...even carbs that you didnt think you liked...and since your body was deprived of them then you gain weight like crazy thus ending up gaining what you lost AND more... but actually i don know some people that have stuck to it and they were able to get weight off and keep it off.

fasting from time to time is a good way to control your weight. Try not to eat too much salty and artery clogging food and stop drinking too much soft drinks because that will make you gain and retain weight. Go to a traditional indigenous sweat lodge or a sauna at the gym too

![]() Cardio HIIT training can be defined as low to moderate intervals alternated with high intensity intervals. Rather than training at the same intensity throughout, cardiovascular intensity changes from low, medium, and high sporadically throughout the entire bout of exercise. High Intensity Interval Training has shown the results of increased anaerobic, as well as aerobic endurance. It can be performed with little or no equipment, and yields much greater fat reduction for invested time. So how do you do it? Start out with a warm up using any type of cardiovascular exercise including but not limited to a treadmill, elliptical trainer, running outside, or even biking. Increase the exercise intensity by doing a high intensity interval for a minimum of five times starting at 30 second interval times, and progressing to longer times as your cardiovascular program matures. Perform each interval starting at 30 seconds in duration striving to reach 90% of your maximum heart rate, then slow down to moderate or low intensity for a few minutes before you, once again, do a high intensity interval. Your heart rate should be around 50%-60% of your maximum heart rate during the low or moderate intensity segment, and progress upwards to 90% during your HIIT interval. The goal of HITT training is to be as progressive as possible. Perhaps the next workout interval can be extended by 10 seconds, or the rest time between intervals can be decreased. In order to perform HIIT properly, you must be willing to take a progressive approach to high intensity cardiovascular training. It is also recommended to clear this type of training protocol with your doctor. HIIT's purpose is to work at a much higher heart rate, or exercise intensity compared to the conventional cardiovascular training.

exactly what martinaa said... and for myself... The park is down the street where I live...I run and walk 4 laps around... every night after work and mornings before work since mid october... I dont feel it yet... but ppl are really telling me im losing weight...
