Members could then post the ads in their local markets for some free advertising. Just a thought...

Earlier today I found a thread with this post and it made me think. I replied, but there was no feedback from anybody. Maybe its because of where the thread is placed (Site Announcements) or maybe nobody cares. I know that there has been a lot of finger pointing when it comes to Soy's membership numbers, and why this site hasn't been updated, but proposed solutions have been few and far between.

While I can't say with 100% certainty that this would work, I think its worth a shot. I'd be willing to do my part and post in area Craigslists and I think it could work if others did so in their local markets. What do the rest of you think?

I think it's just spreading the word. Just telling people from some social media about soy would help.

Of course, we need great content along with great discussions to get them to join and to keep them on here.

In my time here on Soy, one thing that I've noticed is that most members value their privacy. Think about it, how many members actually use their real name here on Soy? While you may have no problem telling your Facebook or Twitter friends that you're Tecpaocelotl, I doubt that most members go by their Soy aliases in real life. Posting a Craigslist ad would be a way of recruiting without having to explain to your friends that you go by __________(fill in the blank) on an internet forum.

I think it's a GREAT IDEA!

I wonder what SNH still thinks about this.

I keep thinking about the movie "The Craiglist Killer" when I read this IDK why. Killers are everywhere I know, so I guess it's worth a shot to advertise Soy.

we gotta come up with a few sentences that will help not only define this website but sparks interest.

An ad on craigslist is a great idea to get people to come here but great content will keep them here. Maybe also compile a list of good threads/topics to make it easier on the new members. This list, along with a few welcoming words can be sent through PM automatically at the time of registration.

Can it be like it is on Twitter?

You know on the Twitter account, new threads that are posted on SoyChicano are tweeted.

Can this be done thru Craigslist as well? Maybe El Californio, since it was his idea, should be the one to be posting said threads on Craigslist?

Thank Suave We'll know what SNH and others think about this if and when they post here. For now, I think this is a start at getting the creative juices flowing.

Soy already attracts plenty of wierdos, nutjobs, and crazies, so this should be no different. With the good comes the bad.

Like I said, this could work if members are willing to post ads on their local Craigslist pages. I don't think it would be fair or even fully effective if one person alone or just the mods were the ones posting these ads. There are members all over California, Texas, Nevada, the midwest, Florida, the east coast, even México, so theres no reason this couldn't reach people all over.

This of course would be voluntary, so if you (as it sounds from your post) or anybody else doesn't want to help, then they wouldn't be obliged to. Muchas manos hacen ligero el trabajo.

Oh, I get ya. Members from different locations be posting this on their Criagslist. Let's just hope that these members are willing to share the word within their area.

But, you can still post in your area, No?

Of course. Does that mean you're on board to cover Fresno, since that's your area?

Something is definitely not appealing on the the forums here. I have been on different forums and it seems common that there are a group of regular posters with sporadic new posters posting and then they themselves becoming regulars. But the regular posters stay at a low number. Thing is though on those other forums, the view count on the thread are way more higher than here.

Plus forums is more of a nerd type thing where if you use the computer a lot. The general population rather facebook and instagram.

This site is definitely informative though in regards to history and culture. Was entertaining but now flaccid
