How to enter soy chicano's chatroom using MIRC

I recently discovered a problem with the link from the main page. The link worked if accessing it from within the forums but wouldn't work from the main page.

The problem should be resolved now.

Would it be too much work to add in a chat room like we used to have? (If i remember correctly, it was just a link at the top with the other menu choices, and it opened on another tab?) I could be wrong though it's been so long.

Oh, I'm not to sure. Wasn't it Java Script (from what I remember)? I have no clue if that's the same as IRC. My response was in reference to your 'easy access' comment to the chat room, which I believe was easily accessible back in the day.

Oh, yeah, I think it was Java. I remember just clicking 'Chatroom' and a little window would open up that I could keep open while browsing the site. Easy Peasy.

In short, yes.

The site is running on super old software (as far as I understand it) and there is no current plan on upgrading it to something that could support a java based platform for a chat. But you're right, we didn't use to have to download a whole app or go to another site to access the chat. It would just open on a new tab or window as you mentioned.

No idea how much it would cost, and honestly I'm not sure it'd be super helpful to raise money.

Us mods (Me, Tec & SJ) unfortunately don't have the capacity to upgrade the site in any way, even SJ who is also an administrator doesn't have that ability. The only one that could do that is el mero mero Sal, who hasn't logged in for a while now. And has made it clear on other posts I believe that the forum is low-priority for him with regards to upkeep and maintenance because it doesn't have an income stream for him as some of his other ventures.


Personally, I think that's contributed to the decline in posters. Who wants to come by and contribute to a site that has broken parts (i.e. you can't upload a profile pic or avatar anymore) or an owner who doesn't come around?

It's a catch 22 in my opinion. We could raise thousands to move to a new and improved platform for Soy, but we would still need Sal to make the actual switch.
