Default Offical 2013 Boxing Thread

Ok so here it is folks..

Been a pretty decent Year so far.. couple of barn burners in the Rios Alvarado scrap and the Bradley Provodnikov throw down..

And a stinker just this past weekend.. I really dislike Guillermo Rigondeaux..

Got the Canelo Alvarez Austin Trout fight this weekend, Martinez Murray Next and then Gayweather Guerrero the next..

As the late great Mills Lane used to say.. "Let's get it on!"

Rigondeaux whooped Nonito's ass, not exciting unless you're a hardcore boxing fan and enjoy the sweet science. El Chakal is a beast, though I would like to see him loosen up and fight more exciting fights...at the end of the day, a win is a win.

Canelo vs Trout is really a toss up fight to me, and if I was a betting man I'd bet on Trout by decision hedged with Canelo by KO. To me, Canelo is going to have to hurt Trout to win the fight because Austin is too slick and I don't think the redhead can outbox him. I'm hoping 'nelo can put his hands on Austin early and not let it go the distance...

Yeah...

it's frustrating... like JCC jr.... it's just frustrating in general to watch the heavyweights... but i watch when they're on an undercard b/c of course there's always the possibility of the spectacular... of the surprise....

JCC Jr...it's sad when you're best skill is taking a punch. He's slow, stiff, no head movement and he lacks training dedication. His younger brother was a beast, too bad he retired after he killed a dude.

The heavyweight division is pretty boring since the only fight that interests me is a fight between the brothers, but they won't get down like that...

Not exciting at all... Rigondeaux is the worst of boxing.. He's a counter puncher who doesn't punch.. Not who can't but doesn't.. He's a Counter.. He's more afraid of getting hit then he is in beating his opponent ..

I despise Floyd Gayweather and his antics but I give him credit for being a masterful boxer who lets his hands go.. He too is afraid of getting hit but doesn't dance and run around the ring like Rigo.. Still waiting to see what happens when Rigo gets in the ring with a top level pressure fighter like Mares ..

I Think Austin is good, but he isn't as slick as people say he is.. he beat Cotto because Cotto couldn't hurt him not because Cotto couldn't hit him. He laid hands on Trout plenty enough just not strong enough to hurt him. That won't be a factor with Canelo.

Nonito is not a top level pressure fighter? Give the Cuban credit.

And you're right about Austin, Cotto doesn't have the power that Canelo has to hurt with one punch since he's always been a fighter that breaks down his opponent with many punches and not just one. Canelo definitely has the power in both hands to change the fight with one punch so it will give him a better chance...

Donaire is top level .. He is hardly a pressure fighter .. He's a counter puncher Tailor made for the duck and dance and run and dance some more style of Rigo.. Ill give him credit for not getting KTFO.. the only time Rigo opened up was the last round when Donaire pulled a capt jack sparrow and fought w one eye.. At that point the fight was over .. To me that's pussy ..

I appreciate good tactical boxing .. I just can't stand the bullshit so called "defensive wizard " bullshit .. Don't like it from Hopkins, don't like it from Anselmo Moreno, and I sure as shit don't like it from an amateur like Rigo ..

Canelo doesn't have one punch power he wears people down like Cotto, the difference is Canelo is a natural Middleweight who can make it down to Junior mid Cotto is a natural Junior welter who could hurt people at welter but can't make either weight anymore so he fights at junior mid.

Right now Canelo is better bigger and stronger than Cotto at this stage of Cottos career and will on two to three years be better than Cotto ever was at any point in his career.

Canelo is a BEASSSSST

TROUT did the stanky leg when he got dropped

that won him the fight.

i respect trout even more now, taking a humble loss is winning in life

Great fight, Nelo really impressed me with his improvement on defense and head movement...though taking rounds off won't be a good idea vs a Mayweather.

The better Canelo gets the less likely you'll see Mayweather get in the ring with him.. I have a feeling you'll see CSF set something up sooner than later.. There is more money (purse % and PPV split- Wise) to be made for CSF if he gets it done sooner.. the longer he waits the more bargaining power Canelo has

Not saying he's an elite defensive fighter or nothing, he did go from being a pinata to some movement though...against one of the better jabs in the division.
