Default Juan Manuel Marquez

I feel many people wrote him off after he lost to PBF. He got dominated and couldnt do much against a bigger, faster, quicker and extremely defensive (runs away) fighter. It was not a good fight for him to take but he did it anyways.

However, I believe Pac's dominance recently says a lot about the only man to give him a fight the last few years. The first fight I thought Marquez won, but they called it a draw. The second fight he lost by one point, one KO that Pac had in the 2nd round (I think), but Marquez won more rounds.

What do you guys think? I'd love to see them fight a third time...

He's going to fight Diaz again pretty soon, should be interesting to see how Marquez comes out after the Mayweather loss...

I never saw his two fights against Pacquiao although I heard they were close like you said. Wouldn't mind seeing a third one though.

I doubt he'll get the third one, not until (if) Pac fights Mayweather at least...

Marquez knocks him out in a much cleaner technically sound fight. Look for more lateral movement and sharper crispier punches. They say sometimes you learn a thing or two from your opponents, maybe he picked up something from PBF?

I thought the first fight was a draw, the second I gave to JMM.

Now, Pac rapes him and ends it within 9. JMM is in his mid 30s, no other fights above 135 and hasn't fought in almost a year.

Going back to the Pac bouts, the reason why Marquez gave him so much trouble is that, at that point, Pac was draining himself to make those weights and those weights were better for JMM. During Pacs 130 days, he was ballooning up 14 pounds on the night of the fight. Now, hes not doing that anymore as hes more near his natural weight.

lol @ LA Native. Pac has taken punches from bigger guys, Cotto and Clottey, and was nowhere near being knocked out. JMM isn't going to be the guy to do it. Especially when he has a habit of kissing the canvas in his bouts vs Manny.

to quote myself lol yes! i am doing that!

Although i failed at the knock out prediction , i still believe it was a much easier fight for Marquez and i saw a lot more sharper punching and better defense. I also want to point out i saw a little floyd mayweather move in there. You guys probably didnt notice it at first but if you watch the fight again look for marquez to throw a right lead after a lazy juan diaz jab. Floyd does this all the time, you can see marquez slip that slick punch various times throughout the fight. Trust me watch it again and you will see what i am talking about. I will try to find a gif or youtube of this punch, perhaps some of you already know which one im talking about. Floyd landed it all night vs marquez and on Shane.

^Marquez has been throwing that. He's one of the best counter punchers of all time, just so happens PBF is as well. PBF is also a lot bigger than Marquez and wasn't a good matchup for JMM...

He proved once again why he's a champion.

true^^perhaps because floyd has been landing it so cleanly recently and JMM did so to so easily vs daiz perhaps thats why i noticed it more and more.

It was a cool fight, i wish he fights manny next but i think they are going to set jmm with khan now. The rafa vs juanma fight is going to be legendary! i got rafa by knock out later rounds. I think hes bigger and has way more technical boxing ability and war experience to be beat. Pretty much hes an overall much better boxing.

Juanma Lopez is the truth, should be a good fight. JMM vs Khan is a tough fight for Marquez, but Khan's got a suspect chin so we'll see...

Yeah Khan will be a tough fight for JMM. Khan has the height, reach, speed to disrupt many fighters. Although i agree with you on the chin part, he did prove me wrong last fight as far as his boxing ability, the guy is pretty good. Not superstar or legendary status but dude can box with or without power behind his punches.

The fight had its moments got boring after the 4th or 5th i think. JMM just to much skills for Diaz.

Won in a 9th round TKO vs Katsidis last night. He wants Pac, would love to see a third fight and I'd hope the fight would happen under 140. But I doubt if the fight even happened that Pac would agree to that weight...

Think he might be turning 38 next year, looking good still though. At 135, don't know anyone who can fuck with him...even Pac
