i'm waiting for Juvenile's return! lol yeah right.

Southern rap is purdy good, but i'll agree the mainstream southern rap is just too much like pop.
West Coast needs to come up again.

Some Southern Hip Hop is good, but some is really really bad.

UGK
Scarface
Eightball & MJG
Three 6 Mafia

are all good acts

Most of the stuff out of Atlanta sucks hard. Outkast and Goodie Mob are good stuff but pretty much everything else is just laughable.

Hip-Hop's been dead. All this commercial bull$hit killed it. 50 Centavos is WAY overrated and so is a lot of the bullshit in the last 10 years, but more so recently. I grew up on The Fatboys, Run DMC, KRS, Too $hort(beitch!), Ice-T, LL Cool J, NWA, and hella others. They had creativity but most of these guys now all sound the same.

I'm sick of dudes from NYC try to sound like they're from the South(eg: Dipset) and trying to bang like they're from the West. The Midwest needs to show some unity and they'll blow the fuck up. While the Southern dudes get play, they need to come with lyrics and concepts. There are some who got both(UGK,8Ball & MJG, Outkast, Goodie Mob), but most sound the same. It's like Ice Cube said on 'Child Support', "all these niggas rap about is pussy and money". Here on the West, these dudes in the Bay need to capitalize on this 'hyphy' sound(though I'm not a big, big fan).

I miss when NorCal had nationwide shine in the 90's with artists like Digital Underground, Rappin 4-Tay, Spice 1, Mac Dre(RIP), Mac Mall, E-40 & The Click, Too $hort(especially w/those Ant Banks beats), Brotha Lynch Hung, C-Bo, Mr.Doctor, X-Raided, Funky Aztecs, N-2 Deep, and of course 2Pac(RIP). Also Sir Dyno and Darkroom Familia.

Hip-Hop is on a respirator though. Ice Cube and Nas have injected some much needed realness to the game in the last year so I hope(keyword: HOPE) that people will step up their game.

All the good stuff is underground now a days. Mainstream rap/hip hop has been dying off lately. It looks like its coming back slowly though, not sure about the Westcoast though. I haven't heard a decent rapper from the west in a while.

It's good if you go get the underground shit, I think Califa rap is better. You know Lil Rob, Frost, Diamonique, and all them.

I think the only good rapper you mentioned there is Frost. Chicano Rap fell off a long time ago when they all tried to go mainstream and changed up their flow. Especially Lil Rob, I completely stopped listening to him when he made the Ying Yang Twins type song...

You should peep Mr.Kee, Mistah FAB, or the Mob Figgaz, all from the Bay. $hit, even check out some newer stuff by Spice 1 or C-Bo. Straight lyrics AND gangsta

I Would Say Hip Hop Is Dead. I Woudl Say The Game Was Trying To Bring It Back For The West Coast But Doesnt Have Enough Behind Him. Ice Cube Has Never Changed His Style. As For Snoop Forget That Because He Turned Soft. Thats What I Think

Have you heard the new Nas? What about Ice Cube's newest? He gets hella raw on it. Tambien the new Fat Joe is solid.

Nah, don't really like Fat Joe. Ice Cube's was kinda decent, but nothing great. Still haven't heard that new Nas though, heard its pretty good. Im waiting to see if rap/hip hop makes a comeback this year.
