Nice pics Dannie. I love thoroughbred horse racing. Wish I grew up around horses so I'd know a little bit more about them. They really are very beautiful majestic creatures

We don't have any thoroughbreds, but we have 3 quarter horses (2 palaminos and a bay), an appaloosa dun, and a black morgan cross. They truly are majestic, fierce yet protective and gentle, beautiful animals. They're my buds. They give 110% of everything they have in them - no matter what we're doing, what we ask of them.

Tramp, the baby (he's the year old palamino), was attacked by a mountain lion around 2 months ago - our bay quarter horse fought it off and stood over him to protect him until we got to him. Thankfully he's recovering and will only bring scars out of that confrontation. I just love them all.

This is my son, Jase, with his horse, George (morgan x).

He's been working with him on his leads, manners, respect, etc. George is a big boy - 16.2hh - he's thicker than he appears in the top pic. It's nice that George is young and big enough to grow with Jase as he grows older.



I'm proud of Jase and happy with the bond the two have.

This is Chism, our bay quarter horse. He looks like he's had a horrid day in this pic, dragging himself in from the pasture, haha .. in reality, he saw me walking to the barn with treats and "walked that way".

Chism (qh bay) and Nugget (appaloosa dun) are my personal horses. The yearling palamino, Tramp, is my daughter Jeili's horse, and the full grown big boy palamino (Mikey) is G's horse.

Very nice Dannie. Over the past few years I've learned what a yearling is, mare, filly, colt, gelding, etc.
There is so much to horses, it seems like it could take an entire lifetime to learn all their is to know.

KoolArrow .. yes, totally - there's so much to learn - and the thing about horses, is that it's more than not, hands on - and then it depends on the individual horse. When you have a passion for them, though, it's so worth it to take the time.

I think you'd really enjoy them!! It's where I find my peace, not kidding. To saddle and ride out alone - you just get lost in your own thoughts and figure so many things out that most times, your mind is too busy to take time for.

I think my dream job would to be a horse trainer of quarter horses or thoroughbreds.

Yeah, I totally enjoy the horses (more) after we have them trained and where we want them. I mean, you're always working with them after, but once they learn the basic ground manners (along with respect) and get over that hump of green broke, it's nicer to take them out riding and enjoy that time.

I've thought much about offering riding lessons - which is something that I think I would enjoy doing, but after working with the horses and doing all that has to be done (kids, house, horses, barn), there's little to no time left. I still home school, and I'm going back to the office in October, so that's a "no go" .. :sigh:

My daughter, Jeili, was honored to present the US Army wreath this year at Ft. Leavenworth, in lieu of the POW/MIA wreath (in years past), at the Wreaths Across America event - she was accompanied by Captain Maria Sanchez (active Army) and Betty Wright (Gold Star mother).


Very proud of this little girl's passion for our service members (past and present) and their families.
