How much longer can SC stay active/open with not many users on ?

Your response can be a bit broken down by my response.

It says 40 active members, but you have to put this into consideration: Active is those who actually log in. If you were to look at the status on people online:

There are currently 1 user (me) and 75 guests online.

A large number of people aren't logged in and just want to lurk or they are people who forgot their password.

I have gotten messages on youtube and facebook saying they read the articles I post on soy and get their news from here and sometimes post that on facebook. I have asked them why they don't join soy and they always seem a bit hesitant on saying why.

Seeing why people aren't logged in or aren't responding is easy to see when you look on facebook. People like to share links, but don't like to add a response and if they do, it's just a few sentences. Majority will just click on the like button (which soy had a rep button, but no longer exist since everyone was giving each other the negative which I wish facebook had).

In soy, you have to spend an extra amount of time to actually copy and paste the story or write a lot. Plus people don't want to write that much unless it's about them.

Then there's the friend factor on soy. People acted a certain way on soy and would be embarrassed if they invited a friend since they could see all their activity. My question is, would you invited people to soy? Why or why not? Would you invite people to facebook? Why or why not? You don't have to write the response, but would like you to think about it.

Facebook has a me corner and all about you unlike a forum which is us as a community. People like to feel special. People feel special when they share a story, not showing the first person who did. People like to post their opinion or thoughts and people forced to see it on their feed instead of spending the extra effort for a person to have the free will to whether or not they want to click on a story. Technically you can do stuff like facebook on soy, but it's a few extra steps to get to that (profile along with all the threads you started).

Then there is an "advantage" of people in which there is an app which all you do is click since people are lazy. I gave instructions on how they can see soy easy on an app along with instructions to download an app and steps to get into the chat, but people think it's too much effort even though it's a few steps that take less than a minute and goes automatically from that moment on.

Plus, people don't spend the time to read read except the small paragraphs. LOL.

Baby D, I think Soy will probably just trudge along just as it has been for years. No one wants to be the one to say that the site needs a dramatic overhaul but no one wants to say it should be shut down either.

the activity is def up from when i first signed up. when the old todochido was up i signed up here & used to check in and it seemed like months would go by w/ nothin. now the activity meter is slightly up.

This is a problem everywhere not just with soy, facebook/twitter/instagram/etc. are killing the wonderful world of community forums. It's quite a shame really, I do understand soychicano was once a thriving community. We need more Chicano related boards, brownpride is kind of just scattered all over the place with the amount of content that it has, I enjoy soy's simplicity.
