I have an issue with Malinche. Though there's are people who do idolize her or romanticize her, they are usually people who don't know history.

Tecuichpo aka Isabel is a better figure than Malinche. Though people see her as the wife of Cuauhtemoc (before that was married Cuitlahuac, and if you with Información de doña Isabel de Moctezuma, she was married to Atlilxcatzin before Cuitlahuac), but did her best to become a pawn to marriage in which she try to make sure her lineage (up until the early 20th century) were financially ok and could do anything they want.

As for Friendship Park segment, I remember before 9/11, that people would use the beach side of the border to play volleyball with the fence being the volleyball net. Since 9/11, it has been very strict.

People in Mexico, at least when I was there used to use Malinche as bad word it was one of the worst insults you could get.

We all knew who La Maliche was, she was never romanticized at least while I lived in Mexico.
