Maybe he means that people from zacatecas are less likely to celebrate it?

Don't laugh. It was a serious question

There's not that much that I know about my family's pueblo and their traditions except for the fiestas navideñas and the ones to the patron virgen. Any information or leads is greatly appreciated since I can then go to my family members and ask questions. I have vague recollections of my childhood where family friends might have celebrated Dia De Los Muertos, but I'm not sure.

well not all families celebrate it. Why don't ask your parents if they ever did? and ask why they don't now?

I wouldn't exactly call it an issue....just something that isn't practiced in my immediate family so I was never taught.

What he said. The best people to answer your questions is your family.

For example my parents, even though my parents are from the same state, northern and southern Jalisco are almost like two different states. Anyway, I don't think my dad ever celebrated day of the dead until he moved to TJ while my mom's family does it different than what most people do it.

I'm surprised about that since I always thought border areas celebrate it. I seen TJ has a lot of things for it even though historically it was never celebrated there until the 20th century.

I've never celebrated Dia de los muertos. My mother said it was a big deal where she grew up, but once she came to the states it ended there. I wish she had kept the tradition going

I can't recall if I've ever been to Mexico during Dia de Los Muertos. I've always made it a point in my life to celebrate Halloween here in the states so that alone, would put me out of Mexico during 11/02 of any year. I don't live near the Mexican border, I live near the Louisiana border along the gulf coast.

I think my mom's family celebrates it though, and thats all the way in San Luis Potosi Mexico.

My bad. I remember you said you lived near the Texas border. I just assumed Mexico was on the other side. LOL.

Well, the Sabine River that borders Texas and Louisiana was once the border line for Mexico and the U.S.

Not Exactly sure....I've only been as a small child. The last time I was in Mexico period was about a year and a half ago to bury my grandmother, but before that it had been like about 16 or 17 years that I was in Mexico.

Well it wasn't San Luis that we buried my grandmother it was Cuidad de Cauhuila.
And I only went to support my daddy...that woman hated me.
