thanksgiving day still remains the same; a holiday celebrated by many. don't matter what walk of life you come from. the white
man made it a holiday officially and it his name was lincoln ole honest abe. that is what we are talking about here so i think.

happy thanksgiving to you all; for i am thankful that you all became part of life via the internet through soy. this was all made
possible by the government that grants freedom of speech. this government saw the need of ventilation which is what most on here
do. imagine without this freedom how all the hostility would bottle up within oneself only to explode later on. these guys knew that
by allowing us to voice our opinions on different matters on the government would extinguish bigger fires which brew within. they
were quite bright i'd say. gobble gobble.

Here is my question, does a white man have to make a holiday so you can give thanks instead of giving thanks every day?

OMG. I didn't know only America had holidays. That is truely freedom in which we're the only country with holidays.

I highly recommend the film "SQUANTO: A WARRIOR"S TALE." It was made by Disney, but I still consider it to be a good beginners' video for people wanting to learn some truths about what really happened between Natives and pilGRIMS. The video is available at Blockbuster or at Amazon, probably even at a local library. Anyway, Adam Beach plays SQUANTO and he is one fine actor! The drama might leave you a bit on edge and truly uncomfortable about the whole Thanks-taking propaganda.

seriously, i don't need a holiday to give thanks but of course that is what you say. quim doesn't bother with me cause i don't
get into debates with you all. that is what you all like to do debate anything. you guys are young with plenty of knowledge but
seemingly don't know what to do with it. thanksgiving is a day that the people thought would be good to set aside in thanking
God. unfortunately a lot of so called Christians only take this day to thank God. now of course you so called indians want to make
something out of nothing. if you don't agree with thanksgiving why even partake in the festivities.

does it matter how this day came about? do we really know what actually took place over 300 years ago?

you all are angry cause you feel that europeans took from you. they came and the conquered. whether by force or with a fork tongue.
that is irrelevant to the fact that this desire of power thrives within all mankind.

like on a different thread that i posted our ancestors posed the same desire to overtake.

Psalms 95
1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with
thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 4 In
his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. 5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed
the dry land. 6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. 7 For he is our God; and we are the
people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and
as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. 10 Forty years long
was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11 Unto whom
I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

now this is the truth of thanksgiving: one of a repented heart recognizing where salvation comes from. praising His name and worshipping
Him in song and prayer. lifting up His name above all other gods for in His hands you will find strength. acknowledging Him as the Creator
of all. He is our God, God almighty; we are His sheep and like a good shepherd He will tend to His flock leading us to green pastures.
if you here His voice calling don't run away turn to Him in repentance and entrust your life to Him, believe in the name of Jesus Christ.
for only He is the way, don't hardened your hearts come wholeheartedly without remission. there in Him you will find rest. it is not of
what you do in this life but by His grace you will find life. that is the reason He came down from heaven to die so that we may have
life.

thanksgiving isn't about a turkey in full dressing nor about pilgrims sitting with indians at dinner table. it is about giving thanks to the
Lord for what He has done in your life.

God bless.

no, no, no, no, NO,NO! chale *SHAKING THE DEMONS OUT MY HEAD*

Look in this time at this age everything is either pro-active or active. why is it that when it comes down to everyone that is in search of this wisdom and fact to the truth is knocked down by religion and scriptures......I am calling out the truth behind the lies. See them, believe them, because its there and backed by plenty of sources. The holiday that everyone celebrates, can care less about Indians and pilgrims. They use it as a time for a family gathering and then go to bed early so they can hit the malls for the after thanksgiving sales…people died families were broken. Do we really know what took place you ask? Does it matter you ask? Well yes!

You give thanks to the government that grants the rights to freedom of speech......ok, well what about religion? Here you are quoting bible scripts, preaching the word to back yourself up. So those of us that believe in the creator in a different form or forms you throw your religion at us. The ol mighty government you believe in takes away other people rights everyday. I see it all the time; I myself work for it and deal with that fact everyday. No more am I going to turn cheek! No more am I going to live a lie! No more am I going to sit there and accept this way of life! Oh hell Naw! If I lose my cop job then so be it. What matters to me is that is setting the record straight. I have the right to know, believe, and challenge it.

Even Christmas has become urbanized; many people don’t care about your religion aspect of it. All they care about is how good the lights look on the house and hoping that the tiny box wrapped in paper under the FAKE tree is that fuckin diamond ring she wanted, and if not then he isn’t getting any poon-tang for awhile! Am I wrong?

Right so far. Things have become materialistics in this day and age. I think my parents are the only people who celebrate christmas the right way.

Proverbs 2

6 For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He holds victory in store
for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, 8 for he guards the course of the just and protects the
way of his faithful ones. 9 Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path. 10 For wisdom will
enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. 11 Discretion will protect you, and understanding will
guard you. 12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,

to find wisdom first find God.

God bless.

http://www.infoplease.com/spot/tgturkey1.html

"In 1939, 1940, and 1941 Franklin D. Roosevelt, seeking to lengthen the Christmas shopping season, proclaimed Thanksgiving the third Thursday in November. Controversy followed, and Congress passed a joint resolution in 1941 decreeing that Thanksgiving should fall on the fourth Thursday of November, where it remains."

Thanksgiving, as we know it today, is purely materialistic. As stated above, the holiday was set on this particular date to extend the consumption of goods by the people. Do you think it's coincidence that the holiday is on a Thursday and that the national observance of the holiday includes Thursday and Friday? Or that that Friday marks America's biggest shopping day (black Friday)? It was important to make Friday a part of the holiday so that people have a day off to buy, buy, buy. Thanksgiving is simply another day to remember capitalism and consumption...which fits well in a festivity of gluttony.

Damn right. And those workers who depend on shopping dollars should be grateful.

This caught my eye.

The Wampanoag Indians were I believe the first indian whalers in New England. They, along with the New Englandmen sought and hunted whales, mainly Sperm whales, the oil was used to power factories, oil for lights, used in cologne and many more things. Just a fun fact
