Default Aztec/Mexica Calendar Day Counts

I'll be posting the day counts and meanings on here:

March 12-24, 2013 - 1 Alligator to 13 Reed

When a group of anonymous writers decided to inscribe the knowledge of their culture, little did they know the Florentine Codex, 12 books on their cultures most sacred subjects, would help their descendents rediscover their identity.

The days signs meaning in Florentine Codex Book 4 is based on the 260 day calendar --I’ll attempt at making it easy to understand. The day counts don’t always go exactly the Gregorian dates as the title may indicate, but the days are reused and their meaning is still valid. These days can be used for future references when the same day sign appears again in the calendar, which the day signs will be noted in the title.

Lets start with the year; the year is Ce Calli, 1 house.

March 12th is the start of the calendar starting with Ce Cipactli (1 alligator). This day is a good sign for those who were born in it.

If a nobleman was born on these days, it was believed that he can become ruler, prosperous or wealthy.

If a common man was born on these days, he would be a great warrior.

If a woman was born on these days, she would be wealthy and prosperous.

There is a catch to this; if the person became malicious acting on evil intentions, it would lead them to an inevitable unhappiness, ultimately leaving them to suffer in loneliness.

Usually the child will be given the name Cipac or a name of one of their grandparents.

Guardians for this day are Oxomoco & Cipactonal.

The days following Ce Cipactli is Ome Ehecatl (2 Wind), Ei Calli (3 House), Naui Cuetzpalin (4 Lizard), Macuil Coatl (5 Serpent), Chicuacen Miquiztli (6 Death), Chicome Mazatl (7 Deer), Chicuei Tochtli (8 Rabbit), Chiconaui Atl (9 Water), Matlactli Itzcuintli (10 Dog), Matlactli Ce Ozomatli(11 Monkey), Matlactli Ome Malinalli (12 Grass), Matlactli Ei Acatl (13 Reed). These days are good as well.

Jia Escobedo helped with editing.

For those who want to know their year and day, I recommend doing the calculation here:

The day that was on your birthday would probably not be the same day as your birthday since it's based on a 260 day calendar and there are 5 unnamed days in the end of each rotating cycle.

March 25 - April 6 - 1 jaguar to 13 death

Ce Ocelotl (1 jaguar) was not a good day to be born on especially if one wanted rewards.

Almost all those who were born on this day became slaves. Those who want to avoid it must be discipline oneself by the use of reason by thinking ahead.

Following Ce Ocelotl, which had similar attributes, were Ome Cuauhtli (2 Eagle), Ei Cozcacuauhtli (3 Vulture), Naui Ollin (4 Motion), Macuil Tecpatl (5 Flint), Chicuacen Quiahuitl (6 Rain), Chicome Xochitl (7 Flower), Chicuei Cipactli (8 Alligator), Chiconaui Ehecatl (9 Wind), Matlactli Calli (10 House), Matlactli Ce Cuetzpalin (11 Lizard), Matlactli Ome Coatl (12 Serpent), & Matlactli Ei Miquiztli (13 Death).

Those who were born on these days, whether a commoner or noble, would die in war, kidnapped, abandoned or imprisoned. Misery would be their fate. They would not have a good reputation. They would be evil and be dirty. He would be an adulterer. Even if they became a great warrior, they would eventually become a slave.

In order to avoid this, they must live a calm life, not be lazy, constant in effort to accomplish something, careful, keeping a watchful eye, self sacrifice (fast & blood letting), cleaning things, healthy, cautious and plan for the future. They will become great if they thought carefully, thoughtful of others, not resentful of criticism and not lazy. If people made fun of them, they did not plan revenge.

Naui Ollin was a day for offerings. Someone who was born on this day would be captured in war or die during war.

Chicome Xochitl is a good and bad day. As a good sign, some scribes devoted and gave offering to this day. Women who worked with cotton fast for 8 days. There were some who fasted for forty or twenty days. They believed that doing this would make their embroidery and painted designs would be beautiful. They would gain success and honor. As a bad sign, the women who broke their fast, they would ruin their name and reputation as she would become a promiscuous woman which Xochiquetzal will mock and give them infections. For males, those who were born on this day would be great wise craftsman if they were careful. If not, then he would do nothing and be mocked and be dishonored.

Chiconaui Ehecatl was a bad day. If they were born on this day, they would do nothing with their life since he wasn't capable of doing anything and be from place to place with only the wish of being someone great. Even if he became a warrior, no one would pay attention to his attributes. Even if he had a livelihood, he would lose it all.

April 7 - April 19 - 1 Deer to 13 Rain

Those who were born on Ce Mazatl as noblemen would become rulers and gain fame; they reward others for their good behavior if they wish to keep their fame.

Those who were born a commoner succeeded with everything they did, becoming great warriors and leaders of war, surpassing everyone else. They were not ashamed of themselves.

For women who were born on Ce Mazatl were great at whatever they put their mind into. They could compete with other men as equal.

With these great attributes, there was also a downside; someone born on Ce Mazatl would be the type to pre-occupy their mind with paranoia and fear. Eventually their fear would take over and their fear would be the result of their death.

Those born on Ome Tochtli, would be alcoholics. Always drunk, always looking for alcohol. Even at being sober, they did not seem well adjusted individuals. This person seems to always appear a mess - red faced, unkempt hair, etc. They would be poor and their children would fear them; this type would steal and commit adultery.

Ei Atl was a mixture of good and bad. Those born on this day would easily prosper; success would come comfortably and with much luck. Of course, it can be quickly lost, like holding water in ones’ hands easily slips away. These types would never be content, never feeling at peace.

Those who were born on Naui Itzcuintli were said to prosper with not much effort. If they were a dog breeder, they would become successful. Those who bought his dogs would become rich. The price of these dogs would be high.

Macuil Ozomatli is a good day. Those born on this day were said to be socially acceptable, fun and joyous people to communicate with. They would say jokes or stories which would cause people to laugh and smile. If they offended someone, he would do his best to dissipate the conflict.

Chicuacen Malinalli would be a bad day. Those who were born on this day would live only in torment by suffering pain and trouble. Their children would die at young ages. Those born on Chicuacen Malinalli would become slaves.

Chicome Acatl was said to be a good day. They would be rewarded with basic necessities, conveniently content and happy with their hard working achievements. Nothing failed. Through their efforts, with minimal struggle, they achieved their goal.

Chicuei Ocelotl, Chiconaui Cuauhtli, Matlactli Cozcacuauhtli, Matlactli Ce Ollin, Matlactli Ome Tecpatl were not great days. They did not have much purpose in life.

Matlactli Ei Quiahuitl was a good day. Those born on this day were fortunate. They would have everything they required to eat and drink. He had everything at home. And those who were born on this day would live a long life.

April 20 to May 2 - 1 Flower to 13 Grass

Ce Xochitl (1 Flower) was a good and bad day. Men born on this day will be happy. They could become a great comedian or entertainer. Men born on these days would become a singer, entertainer, storyteller, an artist. They would live content when they were devoted to their day.

If they were not devoted to their day, if they were a singer, artist or a craftsman, if they got any form of wealth, they would become ungrateful, assume things, prideful, snobbish, disrespectful and it would show in his work. They despised everyone and demonstrated it by being rude. When they got sick, it would be serve and would suffer while he waited to get better. He would wish for death. No one would pay much attention. When they died, people only give him pity.

Women born on this day were said to be great embroiders. In order for her to be great, she would have to fast and some blood letting on the day Ce Xochitl. If she did not do it, she would harm her destiny. She would be in poverty and be miserable. She would be a prostitute or go to lover to lover to survive.

Days following Ce Xochitl would be Ome Cipatli (2 Alligator), Ei Acatl (3 Reed), Naui Calli (4 House), Macuil Cuetzpalin (5 Lizard), Chicuacen Coatl (6 Serpent), Chicome Miquiztli (7 Death), Chicuei Mazatl (8 Deer), Chiconaui Tochtli (9 Rabbit), Matlactli Atl (10 Water), Matlactli Ce Itzcuintli (11 Dog), Matlactli Ome Ozomatli (12 Monkey), Matlactli Ei Malinalli (13 Grass). They had similar fates.

May 3 - 15 - 1 Reed - 13 Serpent

Ce Acatl (1 Reed) was not a good day sign. It is also the day of Quetzalcoatl. Which he had to be honored a lot. Those born on this day, had meaningless lives being swept away like the wind. Nothing great came from their lineage and origin.

Ome Ocelotl (2 Jaguar), Ei Cuauhtli (3 Eagle), Nahui Cozcacuauhtli (4 Vulture), Macuil Ollin (5 Movement), Chicuacen Tecpatl (6 Flint) were also considered bad days.

Chicome Quiahuitl (7 Rain) was a good day. People born on this day would be merciful, pitying and compassionate. Good luck would rain on him.

Chicuei Xochitl (8 Flower) had a similar fate.

Chiconaui Cipactli (9 Alligator) would slander and be false witnesses. They would be short tempered. If discussions happened they would cause discord by causing disagreements and dissension. It would cause the people they spoke to be to be confused and disunited with their deceiving. They would spread rumors and misinformation. They would listen to the people in secret. They never guarded a secret nor was trustworthy. They would cause questions where no one questioned things. They had no livelihood and lived in poverty.. Had misery and wore tattered clothes. They lived in with sorry and anger. Though they try to find things to make them happy, they were destined to be miserable.

Matlactli Ehecatl (10 Wind), Matlactli Ce Calli (11 House), Matlactli Ome Cuetzpalin (12 Lizard), Matlactli Ei Coatl (13 Serpent) were good days. They received fame, honor, courage and wealth. No one could mock, harass or belittle them.

May 29th - June 10th - 1 Rain to 13 Monkey

The day Ce Quiahuitl (1 Rain) was not considered a good day. It was filled with immoral practice, misery, orphanhood, suffering, affliction, anguish, misfortune and poverty. It was a day that the Cihuateteo would come out. Parents told their children not to go out. Their father would give them fear saying that his children might get misshapen lips, crossed eyes, hare lips or get possessed by the Cihuateteo. On this day, offerings were made at their shrines and temples. Those who were born on Ce Quiahuitl were said to be nanaoalti, soothsayers and tlacatecolotl. If he was a noble, they would become a tlaciuhque, an astrologer. They would change into other things. If he were a commoner, whatever animal form they turned into was their only form. He would influenced women, he would bewitched them, knowing their secrets. He would provoke people and make them believe different things. He got people possessed. They would leave people in ruins. They would create wooden figurines of those who died in war and set fire to these figurines. He was a magician by removing his leg. He would market himself to make a living. When people wanted someone to be ruined or death, they would hire him. When he try to ruin people, he would transform into a turkey or a dog. He would do it on a bad day sign. Sometimes, it would backfire and he instead would be captured. He would live in misery. Never happy. He was poorly clothed in rags. If they had children, they would live the same. For women, everything they did was bad. She lived in great misery. She was homeless. Even if she was born a noble, she was never noticed. She lived as her day sign, one of misery.

Ome Xochitl (2 Flower) was a bad day.

Ei Cipactli (3 Alligator) was a good day.

Nahui Ehecatl (4 Wind) was good and bad. It was a day that xocuitztli was burnt to scare off the evil things that are mentioned in the day Ce Quiahuitl. Merchants honored this day. No one got hurt on this day. The day sign reader did his best to make this day favorable for those who were born on this day. Those born on this day, would become rich and a leader and a great warrior; terrifying and menacing to their enemies. He would gain honor.

Macuil Calli (5 House) and Chicuacen Cuetzpalin (6 Lizard) were both bad day signs. Both were times of ritual to Macuilxochitl & Mictlantecuhtli. Those born on either of these days were said to work in vain. Their fate was misery. They were hot tempered. They only agitated people. They were not descendent.

Chicome Coatl (7 Serpent) was a good day. People would born Chicome Coatl were more richer and successful than people of Nahui Ehecatl. Chicome Coatl represents the day of our substance, maize.

Chicuei Miquiztli (8 Death) and Chiconaui Mazatl (9 Deer) were bad days. They were hot tempered. They feared or respect no one. They didn’t take much consideration of others. They didn’t cherished nor valued anyone. They were great talkers, but big mouthed, belittle others with their speech. They were mockers and liars. No one said anything around them. They would gossip. They confused and rejected the advice of elders. They were not people of honor. They misled people. They lived with other people, going from place to place. A burden to people. They grew shameful and deranged. They were lazy.

Matlactli Tochtli (10 Rabbit), Matlactli Ce Atl (11 Water), Matlactli Ome Itzcuintli (12 Dog) and Matlactli Ei Ozomatli (13 Monkey) were good days. Males born prosper with success. They were highly favored people. They were well respected and recognized. They were compassionate. Females become wealthy and achieved honor. She prosper by selling items at market. She would have to show pity for others. Those born on this day were said to live a long life. If they were in ruin it was said they were not humble or caring. They were Matlactli Ei Ozomatli were more successful than Matlactli Tochtli.

It is for June 29th 2013.

Also, I had a discussion with someone who brought out how his correlation could be a step closer to figure out a true correlation. Without saying much, it may not be related to the correlation of Venus.

I see. So would I have to use the link in your first post to figure out what the count would be for the actual day I was born as opposed to my birthday in this year right?

Cool thread!

Two things:
1. The date only respond to the year 2013. Correlation is different.
2. I noticed I messed up on this set when you quoted it. Double checking and correlating everything right now to fix everything.

*update*

I updated and fixed everything. It was the group you quoted that messed up everything afterwords.
