Default Chicano Park documentary heads to PBS

Comment: I wonder, other than San Diego, where they'll have this documentary.

By the look of the pic, it looks like the documentary will have a part with Macedonio Arteaga.

Also, for those who don't know much on Chicano Park:

UK-based production company Riverhorse’s doc on Mexican-American identity, Under the Bridge, has been picked up by San Diego’s KPBS network.

Airing tonight (April 30) on the local PBS station, the doc tells the story of Chicano Park in San Diego. Chicano Park was created in 1970 when San Diego’s Logan Heights residents objected to the building of a highway patrol substation in their neighborhood, when they had been promised a park in that space.

The park played a symbolic role in the Mexican-American civil rights struggle and today is a living museum of Chicano art and culture.

“This is a very complex story. There aren’t many places for films like this on television but PBS in America is one of the spaces. We’re really pleased it’s going to be shown and hope the film can contribute to the debate around some of these important issues,” said director Mike Todd.

Comment: Damn. A lot of memories rushed back when I saw Macedonio Arteaga taking those young men to the Chicano Spiritual Retreat. Along with Yermo Aranda speaking. Just remembering a few miles south of that is the border.

I been trying to find books from the Chicano perspective
The Republic of East L.A. haven't read it in a while
Drink Cultura-It was had a lot of comedy and history
Chicanos Soldados in Vietnam-Gritty telling stories about Chicanos everything from fratricide to drug abuse
The Last Supper of the Chicano Heros-Pretty much a bigger version of Drink Cultura
Cholo Style-Is ok you can see that dude learned his skills in the pinta.

Other than that is hard to find books that represent Chicanos in a good way or at least truthful one
