Default Uber

Who used Uber or was the driver?

What your experience?

Used them 3 times in Seattle, they seemed cool and prompt.

I haven't used them in Austin yet.

I've only been a passenger 3 times. Nothing exciting. But I've done about 30 something rides now as a driver. My first night, a rider bought me a cocktail at the bar I dropped him off at, to celebrate my first night as an Uber driver. I've smoked weed with a few riders so far, picked up a USC sorority chick who told me how she did drugs and "Hooked up" with some random dude the night before. A drunk chick hugged me and kissed me the other night (after we smoked some weed in my car). And then some rides are very short and very uneventful, where I barely even talk to the rider.

use uber or lyft when going out. haven't had any problems. I did recently learn NOT to rely on GPS tracking for pickup location. Have to put in address to safe. GPS was inaccurate one night and it tracked a pickup spot that was like 5 blocks away...driver wasn't too happy but she got over it pretty quickly. could have easily just cancelled the pickup and I would have been screwed since I was in an unfamiliar town and looked like she was the only driver around

Your car doesn't need to be immaculate. It just has to be newer than 2004 or something like that, clean title and in good running condition. Go on their website and it'll tell you. I just leased this car because my 2004 Camry has noticeable front end damage and therefore is a salvage title. And obviously my 1981 Dodge gas guzzling van wasn't an option either.

"You're the coolest Uber driver ever". A few people have told me that. I guess some drivers are real stiffs without much personality. Plus now a lot of foreign dudes that used to be cab drivers are now driving for Uber and Lyft. I just started doing this thing but it's pretty interesting. Thinking of even traveling to Vegas on weekends and making some money down there too. I took this gig as much for the comedy, as I did for the money. So I try and make it interesting as possible.

I only use Uber when I'm going somewhere for work since we have a business account. For personal trips, I use lyft. Haven't had a bad experience with either yet thankfully. Although once on an Uber Pool ride home, my driver picked up another passenger, only to realize that it was the wrong one (the girl had requested a lyft at the same location) and my driver didn't realize it until the actual passenger called him and say that the other girl's car was there. It was a mess.

Yeah that GPS tracking isn't very reliable. I've just cancelled rides when it was becoming to much a hassle trying to find some oblivious faggy hipster.
I've since abandoned Uber/Lyft. I prefer to do food deliveries for apps like Caviar, Door Dash, Post Mates, etc.
No dumb small talk with obnoxious white people and my car can be dirty and smell like weed.

I had 2 instances like that in SF. Both either enroute to the airport or being picked up from.

I've been an Uber driver since July of this year... I don't have stories like Kool to share... I'm def a boring driver. Although I have picked up a few interesting people, but so far nothing crazy or dangerous has come across my way.

I have driven for uber for a few months now. It's not a bad gig especially living in a college city. The app is unreliable. I get kicked when the app goes haywire and i get put into timed out session and unable cant go back online.

They screen their drivers before they authorize you to drive for them.
So that's a pretty irrational fear.

Or living in Texas. Same difference

How is someone going to rape/murder you while they're driving anyway?

If anything the driver is in more danger of the people he's picking up being murderers or rapists.
All you need to use the service as a rider is a credit card.

What's the highest surge that you've gotten in your area? Around 2am it was at a 5.4x
